The Daily Astros Update

Color Me Surprised by the Astros

Las tnight, the husband and I got caught up on some DVR.  (Torchwood and Enterprise with a dash of My Name is Earl)  In between shows, I asked him to flip over to the game so I could check the score.  I was stunned.  The Astros were ahead 4-0.

“Surely that won’t last,” I thought to myself as I went to bed.

When I woke up this morning, they had one.

I’m impressed.  Seriously.

We had a pitcher who hadn’t started in 2 years going against a team that has been on a better roll than the Astros.  We should have been slaughtered or, at the very least, we should have lost the game by a couple of runs.

How did we win?

Lance Berkman decided to take the team under his bulky arms and walk to home plate with Carlos Lee picking up any stragglers on the way.

Something is different about Lance this year.  He has moved to a new level in his career.  He’s been a good player before, but not like this.  He is putting up Albert Pujols kind of games.

It’s a joy to watch and I hope he keeps it up all season.

And kudos to Brian Moehler.  He had a very tough assignment and he came through with flying colors.  I hope that Sampson can repeat the performance tonight.
