I read an interesting note today about the batting order and Pudge Rodriguez. In a post titled “Pudge batting Second“, the author had this to say:
“OK, my initial reaction when I saw that Cecil Cooper was planning to bat Pudge Rodriguez second was, “That’s stupid.” My second reaction was to see how often Pudge has batted second. It turns out that he has batted second more often than in any other slot. And his numbers there are actually pretty good. Or at least better than they are in other places.
So, the batting order is: Matsui, Pudge, Berkman, Lee, Pence, Tejada, Blum, Bourn.”
It’s an interesting thought. Just so weird for our number two to be a catcher! :)
