April 28, 2008: Berkman Gets Player of the Week Honors

Lance Berkman capped off a great week by being awarded the Player of the Week for the National League for April 20-27, 2008.   I don’t think anyone was all that surprised since he had possibly one of the most productive weeks of his career.

Berkman led the NL in RBIs with 12.  He also had a 1.136 slugging percentage and he tied the lead in homers with 4.  Add to that 25 total bases and you have one heck of a week for Lance.

It’s nice to see him get this honor in the first month of the season.  It seems like the last few years, Lance has struggled in April.  He definitely isn’t having that problem this year.

Tejada received some votes as well.  Here’s hoping they both rub off on the rest of the offense.
